Andrew Watson turns to Oulton Park

AndrewWatson is set for round five of his debut Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship campaign as he and his CarStore Power Maxed Racing team head for the picturesque Oulton Park.

Andrew's maiden campaign in the UK's premier motorsport series began with a fantastic debut weekend at Donington Park where Andrew achieved an Independent victory and took home the Jack Sears Trophy.

Two tough rounds followed, but the Northern Irishman was back displaying front-running pace at Thruxton where he qualified inside the top ten before he was forced to battle back from a misfortunate mechanical fault prior to race one.

Known as the 'UK's most picturesque circuit', Oulton Park in Cheshire is built into the natural contours of the landscape, making it a favourite amongst the drivers and the fans who have been coming to the scenic circuit since the BTCC first raced on the 2.23-mile circuit in 1960.

Andrew heads for Oulton Park currently occupying P20 in the drivers' standings (20 points), P8 in the Independents Trophy standings (118 points), and P4 in the Jack Sears Trophy standings (157 points).

Looking ahead to this week, AndrewWatson is excited to hit the track at one of the most exciting circuits on the calendar:

“I’m really looking forward to Oulton Park this weekend. As a driver, it’s one of the most exciting circuits we go to on the calendar. There are some great undulations and you’ve got to be on your game to be quick around there.

“We haven’t tested there, so we’ll have to find our feet a little bit in practice, but the car is in a fairly good window, we just need to make some adjustments from Thruxton, which is a very different type of circuit.

“Every weekend I’m learning, and the team are making improvements. I’m loving the championship and having a great time and looking to score some nice points this time out.”

Saturday will begin with two free practice sessions before qualifying at 15:40 (BST) which can be watched live on YouTube.

All three races take place on Sunday, with live coverage available on ITV1 (race one), ITV4 (races two and three), or online. The races are scheduled for 12:17 (BST), 14:40 and 17:25 respectively. Live timing across the weekend is available here.
